As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace (1PET 4:10)
The Finance Committee is a standing committee of the Pastoral Council and is responsible for assisting the pastor in the administration of the parish’s material resources. Governed by canon law and the norms and policies of the diocese and civil law, the committee supports the parish’s pastoral ministries and advocates sound management practices.
Membership: The committee is composed of members with expertise in finance and business management and project planning. One person on the committee serves on Pastoral Council and there are approximately 9 meetings per year. Members are asked to commit to a three year term and may serve up to two consecutive terms.
Roles and Relationship: The committee is an arm of the Pastoral Council and is responsible for keeping the council and pastor informed on the parish’s financial state. When recommendations of the Finance Committee affect the whole parish in a significant way, the recommendations are brought to the Pastoral Council. Most day-to-day administration actions remain at the committee level.
The key activities of the committee include:
Initiate and coordinate the annual planning and budget process.
Provide leadership for the CSA program.
Assist the pastor with bids for major construction or repair projects.
