Baptism

Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life; the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission. (CCC1213)

This is why we are called to welcome, invite, and form all first-time parents desiring Baptism for their child. To accomplish this, we ask parents and godparents to attend a session for preparation prior to scheduling the sacrament.

Classes are scheduled as needed.

Please contact Marybeth at 687-5657 x4 or marybeth.stuart@ourladyofgracemi.org with questions or to register for a class.

  • If you are not a first-time parent, please call the Parish Office for scheduling. 989-687-5657 x 0

Please note: All Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist) take place at the St. Agnes site.

Godparents/Sponsors

For the grace of Baptism to unfold, the parents’ help is important. So too is the role of the godparent, who must be firm believers, able and ready to help the newly baptized on the road of Christian life. CCC1255

Question asked of godparents: Are you ready to help the parents of this child in their duty as Christian (Catholic) parents?
